What You Should Know About SEO Birmingham

There is an increasing importance for search engine optimisation in order for companies to compete against each other. Search engine optimisation can be categorised into regional and local. When people are looking for a certain service they will often choose to do a regional search in order to get more accurate results. When companies are aware of the benefits that they can get from SEO Birmingham they will want to use it in order to increased the amount of traffic from local customers.

There is a number of websites are specific to certain countries due to the services and products that are offered. It is possible to use an extension that is specific to other countries however these may not be applicable to some areas. It is possible to use country names and city names in a limited manner so that the various search engines notice the site. It is very important to be cautious, as some websites do not allow regional, country or city names for certain locations.

When planning to use search engine optimisation it is important to take time to find a company that is aware of how regional optimisation works – local SEO really around the Birmingham, West Midlands and the UK. It is best to choose a company that has experience with strategies that are used in optimisation of web pages. There is a number of people that actually have the knowledge to do their own website optimisation, however the professionals that specialise in this sector will have all of the up to date information.

When looking for a company to do this type of work it is important to choose one that will be able to improve the rankings for the company. It is a good idea to make sure that the companies offering these services are aware of the techniques that are required in order to maximise the potential of the website.

There are a lot of companies that offer these services however they may not actually do things for the best and these may not enhance the business. It is a good idea to check the reputation of the company and the standards of the services that are offered.

When you contact companies for quotes it is very important to bear in mind that there should be no need to refine your website prior to getting a quote or any work done on the site. The businesses that you may want to use should be willing to meet with you in order to discuss your requirements.

DotComSecrets Birmingham provides the best SEO Birmingham can boast

So, Google made another change yesterday that they advised would effect 35% of results. This is called “Google Fresh” or has also been coined “Cafine 2.0″.

OK, from what I can gather, and we are only a day in so I can’t speak with authority but we are seeing results that seem to be driven from fresh RSS feeds and xml Sitemaps.

Take a look below at how the results show – the query term was “football” here in the UK.

Notice the result has the 3 updates underneath the description – this is the result of “Google Fresh”. Obviously there are newer results on the BBC than that but Google favours these. Why, could be Google +1 and other social media shares, backlinks etc etc etc. I will watch and test.

OK, I hope you found this useful

Google Places changes the way Google Place results show right in front of my eyes. Take a look at the picture

Hey

Well just doing some work on a clients site and saw the below change. This changed right infront of my eyes, I did a refresh and bam the below showed on the first page – Oh and by the way one of my clients is here showing on that elusive first page of Google

So whats different?

The map shape

The Map pins are white/light grey & they turn red when you hover over the result

the map pins are on the right not the left, along with the address

OK, my personal opinion is that this no longer stands out as much as the listings did previously – whether the listing was in the oldish format or the enhance where description etc pulled from website.

Hmmm jury is out, let me know your thoughts on this at www.fb.com/dotcomsecretsbirmingham

My initial thoughts are that this makes SEO more important, so for SEO Birmingham give me a call

Well, for the 7th time this week I have just been asked what a QRCode is so I am going to give some examples and where they are being used and more importantly by whom.

I have already advised that the BBC are now using them on all their Cooking Programs – QRCode to be taken directly to the recipe. Someone complained to me the other day that this only works with mobile. NOT AT ALL – check this out. It’s a small ap that uses ur webcam to scan the QRCode QuickMark

I am not going to go into the details of what they are, the history etc. There’s only one place to check that out here

So who else are using them?

Why do I still think these are important the Near Field Comms coming in a big way? Because NFC is still COMING, when is it going to get here to the UK and used?

Also, they are great way to market:

T Shirts and other promo items -if you need help with this I have just the contact

Offline advertising – similar to above

They can go to a URL, email address, telephone number, small piece of text (upto 140 characters I think, but don’t quote me)

Competitions

ETC – for more ideas give me a call

First before reading the rest of this, watch this video – WTF

Honestly, I mean WTF is going on there. Maybe some kind of joke, or a weak publicity stunt but its worked. The video has had over 15k views so….

Anyway, I just wanted to put down that everybody is well hyped about Google+ gaining over 10,000,000 users in 16 days compared to FaceBook and Twitter that took over 700 days to reach this figure. I am not usually one to speculate on things, but I am going to here and I have 2 reasons that I think Google did a really good job in one sense, the other is just fact

1. There are over 200million people with some kind of Google Account, gmail, adwords, webmaster, googledocs, picassa, panaramio, YouTube so was it that hard?

2. The Scarcity trick and your special trick – Google went out and said that Google+ is in Beta and you have to be invited to apply for an account – AWESOME I got invited and played with my account. I felt well special (well not really because I have lots of Internet Marketing friends and they had all had invites too ). But Google did make people feel that it was a special event and that not many people would get the privaledge – good going big G.

Lets watch over the next 6 months how this unfolds. If you haven’t done so by now get a Google+1 button on your site like I have.

Cheers for now and any advise or guidance please feel free to pick up the phone – 07866 493197

So, I intend to update this post with how well it went over the next few days. Remember, if this doesn’t work for me it doesn’t mean that it won’t work for your business. I need to also highlight that getting the right text, headline is crucial and that is an art form all by itself. Wish me luck.

Side note, this magazine gets read by 1.25m people so I’m obviously hoping that some business owners see it and pick up the phone.

Have a great Sunday, and the weather is beautiful here in Birmingham
